As a responsible company, Bygma is committed to the society of which we are a part. In 2009, Bygma published its first CSR Report out of a desire to exercise a level of social responsibility that extends beyond our statutory obligations through targeted initiatives and activities.

2. Make sure not to be complicit in human rights abuses.

Labour

3. Uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining

4. Support the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour

5. Support the effective abolition of child labour

6. Eliminate discrimination in respect of employment and occupation

Environment

7. Support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges

8. Undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility

9. Encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies

Anti-corruption

10. Work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.

Bygma’s CSR reports

Bygma develops and works continuously with a number of well-defined and targeted CSR actions. Through our reporting, we want to highlight our ambition to be an active and socially responsible player in our society. We therefore hope that our CSR report provides valuable insights into the ways in which we exercise our corporate social responsibility.

Environment

Bygma’s work with green initiatives is a constant process in which we continually work to increase our cooperation with external players on environmentally friendly products and measures as a way of helping to raise awareness of environmental issues among both professional and private consumers.

FSC and PEFC certification

Bygma wants to help promote the development of sustainable building practices and has for this purpose been FSC-certified since 2014 and PEFC-certified since 2010.

FSC®

– looks after forests and people worldwide.

FSC stands for Forest Stewardship Council® and is a voluntary labelling scheme for products made of sustainable wood and paper.

FSC is a traceability certification, ensuring that timber and wood can be traced back to the forest from which is was sourced or controlled sources. The forest owner, the sawmill and the manufacturer must all be certified, and dealers must have a trademark licence for marketing of FSC products.

When buying an FSC-labelled product:

You support people, animals and plant life throughout the globe.

FSC ensures that no more trees are felled than what the forest reproduces.

FSC ensures that forestry workers are properly trained, have proper safety equipment and receive decent wages.

Look for the FSC label and make a difference.

FSC Week 2019

In the week beginning 8 April 2019, the whole of Denmark put the spotlight on the Earth’s forests and the importance of the FSC label with FSC Week 2019. As the largest Danish-owned supplier to the building trade, Bygma wants to follow and influence the development of sustainable building practices. Therefore, we also support the FSC Week, which gives us an opportunity to show our support for sustainable forestry and the importance of traceability. Bygma has noted an increasing interest in certified timber and sells a range of FSC-certified timber products.

At the bottom of the page, you can see a selection of the FSC-certified products that Bygma sells.

PEFC

– your guarantee for sustainable forest management

When buying timber carrying the PEFC label:

You support sustainable forest management globally

You help protect forests for the benefit of present and future generations

You help fight illegal felling.

Green Building Council Denmark

In Bygma, we actively support sustainable building practices through our membership of Green Building Council Denmark since 2016.

Specifically, we sell PEFC and FSC-certified timber, which supports the documentation for DGNB projects.

When it comes to sustainability, we believe that trust is good, but documentation and quality assurance are better.
